The cross-country course is undergoing a major facelift ahead of the international season-opener from 15 to 18 March.
The circuit has been slashed in half to make life easier for the teams, and offering double the viewing opportunity for the spectators.

With less than six weeks to go before the 2012 RockyRoads UCI MTB World Cup Pietermaritzburg presented by Shimano event gets underway, the local team here is already in high gear and lots and lots of work is underway.
This is the third time that we will stage the opening round of the UCI MTB World Cup in Pietermaritzburg and this year has special pertinence.

Ticket sales are open and selling fast for the RockyRoads UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Pietermaritzburg, to be held at the Cascades Mountain Bike Park in less than two months.
Officials are on track to complete renovations to the world-famous facility well in time to be able to welcome the world's best downhill and cross-country riders.

The city of Pietermaritzburg will once again play host to the first round of the 2012 RockyRoads.net UCI MTB World Cup presented by Shimano.
Pietermaritzburg will open the global cross-country and downhill series on African soil for the third time!
